RK INTERIOR — Door types
Different movements. Different connections.
Find the right arrangement for your space.
01 — Single / Opening style
One hinged leaf creates a simple connection between two spaces.
Start with the everyday rhythm of the room. A single door gives you a familiar opening arrangement, while the collection, surface and hardware shape its character. Consider the opening direction alongside furniture, circulation and the surrounding wall.
02 — Double / Opening style
A pair of door leaves brings balance and a broader connection to adjoining spaces.
Think about what you want the opening to frame. Double doors can become a focal point between a hallway and living room, or between two adjoining rooms. Consider the proportions of both leaves and the space needed for them to open comfortably.
03 — Sliding / Opening style
A sliding door moves along a track, changing how you use the space around the doorway.
Consider the wall beside the opening as part of the design. A surface sliding arrangement allows the leaf to move along it, so its travel path needs to stay clear. The door, track and hardware can become a considered part of the room’s composition.
04 — Glazed / Design option
Glass changes the relationship between rooms, allowing you to consider light, views and texture together.
Start with the atmosphere you want to create. A clear view, a softer division or a textured surface each gives the opening a different character. Glazing is a design option that can be considered alongside different opening styles, depending on the selected door system.
05 — Pivot / Opening style
A pivot arrangement brings a different movement and presence to the doorway.
Think about the whole opening, including the space on both sides of the leaf. The pivot position influences how the door moves and how much clear opening remains. Discuss the proportions, hardware and installation requirements as part of the design.
06 — Pocket / Opening style
A pocket arrangement lets the leaf slide into the wall rather than remain visible beside the opening.
Plan the wall as well as the door. A pocket system needs space within the wall construction for the leaf to retract, making early coordination useful. Discuss the wall build-up, services and access to the system before finalising the opening.
02 — Bring the room into the decision
